An elephant outside a house in Ban Tha Klang, a village where the residents are from the Suai (or Kui) ethnic group. Generations of Suai were mahouts but due to deforrestation they have not worked in the forests for more than 40 years. After a long period of adaptation, the village of Ban Tha Klang, which has 52 elephants, has created a centre for elephant studies. This one presents shows to tourists, mostly Thai tourists. In this village, each family has at least one elephant.
