The Fiat Tagliero Service Station reflected in a nearby building's window. Designed by architect Giuseppe Pettazzi and built in 1938. Its Futurist design is in the form of an aeroplane. The city is a showcase of 1930s Italian Art Deco architecture. Initially created by colonial-era Italians, the style continued to flourish in the 1960s as local architects carried on the tradition. In 2017 UNESCO designated the city a World Heritage Site in recognition of its outstanding Modernist architecture.
