In August 2003 Taylor agreed to hand over power to an interim government and went into exile in Nigeria, which led to the signing of a peace agreement. .Charles Taylor was indicted for war crimes by a UN court in Sierra Leone, and is accused of fuelling conflict in Sierra Leone as well as neighbouring Guinea and Ivory Coast.
