A group of opposition MPs from the Civic Platform (PO) are occypying the session hall of the parliament as they have since 17 December 2016 in an attempt to prevent the ruling Law & Justice Party from passing the budget. The action was sparked by government plans to drastically limit the number of journalists allowed to cover parliamentary proceedings. The Law & Justice Party then passed the budget by voting, without opposition MPs, away from the main parliament chamber, which its detractors claimed as unlawful, sparking further protest.
