Nuer girls pounding maize in a cattle camp on the banks of the Baro River. They rub ash on their skin as protection against biting flies. The Nuer are traditionally cattle breeders and migrate, between their villages where they live during summer to temporary cattle camps in winter. They are a minority in Western Ethiopia, but one of the major ethnic groups in the Southern Sudan.
