Greencore's Food to Go factory in Manton Wood near Worksop in Nottinghamshire is the world's largest (and according the company's website, 'most sophisticated') sandwich manufacturing facility employing up to 2,000 people who make sandwiches, day and night, all year round. The factory's capacity is said to be up to a maximum of 5,400 sandwiches an hour and up to 3 million a week. Many of the major food retailers in the UK buy their ready made sandwiches from here - including Asda, Boots, the Co-op, Sainsbury's and Marks & Spencer. Greencore runs 22 sites in the UK and United States and employs around 12,000 people worldwide.
