Medson Boti prepares his equipment while on a home visit in his role as a palliative care clinician, based at the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital. He is visiting Cynthia Evance at her home in the suburb of Chilobwe where is cared for by her mother and 12 year old sister. The 14 year old has brain damage caused by HIV-related meningitis. Pioneering work with palliative care in rural Malawi is increasing the quality of life for thousands of people with terminal conditions including cancer, TB and arthritis-often linked to HIV infection which remains at around 10 percent of the adult population.
