Ramji (55) and his wife Purki Bai (45) stand on part of the irrigation system that they have built on their land with the aid of the Government's National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS). This has improved the productivity of their land and they are able to produce two yearly harvests, selling the surplus.
