The Tongan royal family's representatives redistribute the Ha'amo (gifts) presented to the new King of Tonga, King George Siaosi Tupou V, over the previous 10 days following the Taumafa Kava Ceremony (Royal Kava Ceremony). The gifts are given back out to the local communities, who wait to collect their allocation. The new King of Tonga took his first ceremonial kava drink at this ceremony and, following tradition, his name was called out for the first time in the circle of kava drinkers. The Taumafa Kava was one of the many ceremonies that were held at Pangai Lahi during the Pongipongi Tapu (sacred morning), the tenth day of the mourning period since the burial of the late King of Tonga, Taufa'ahau Tupou IV.
