A pile of unsorted electronic trash lies on the road. Every year Guangdong receives more than a million tons of computer waste from countries all over the world. About 100,000 e-waste workers make their living by dismantling, recycling and disposing of the old electronic components. However, many of the parts and workshop processes contain toxic ingredients, such as lead, beryllium and mercury, which put the workers at risk of catching respiratory and skin diseases, eye infections and even cancer.
