Children playing in Muynak, which is increasingly a scene of dereliction as its population shrinks. The town was once a bustling port on the Aral Sea. In 1964 the rivers supplying the Aral were pumped dry to irrigate crops. After that autumn the tide never returned. Nowadays the water has receded over 100 kilometres from Muynak.
