Christine Kanjere (22) was accepted three times for secondary education but was unable to pay fees to continue studying and so married at the age of 15. She was helped by a LISAP Father & Mother Group when they visited the school. LISAP then continued to pay school fees and also helped her with accommodation. The Livingstonia Synod AIDS Programme (LISAP) 'coordinates the HIV & AIDS activities of the Church of Central Africa, Presbyterian (CCAP) Synod of Livingstonia and mobilises and empowers communities to initiate and sustain HIV & AIDS interventions with a Christ centred spirit.' (LISAP website). Its Girls and Boys Empowerment Project funds increased access to education as an early intervention method to HIV/AIDS prevention.
