Yolanda Pulecio, the mother of former presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt, reads the script of her early morning radio message while copies of Ingrid's book, 'The Rage in the Heart', lie on a table nearby. Yolanda reads out messages on a radio programme aimed at communicating with some of Colombia's many hostages in the hope that her daughter will hear her words. Ingrid Betancourt was kidnapped along with her campaign manager, Clara Rojas, by FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) guerrillas while on a political visit to the former DMZ (demilitarised zone) in February 2002. She has now been held captive by FARC for over five years.
