The Rusange family go to work in their fields in Gisuru. The family has two daughters with multiple disabilities. The oldest, 21 year old Buhwiriri (left), was paralysed on the left side of her body after she received a vaccination when she was a child. Her body is covered in burn wounds because she doesn't feel the heat when she gets too close to a fire. Her younger sister, 15 year old Muburo, is also disabled and can't stretch her legs and arms. Her mother calls her her bat because she is so small and always sits in a collapsed position. A community based rehabilitation program of Handicap International is now taking care of the family.
