A staircase in an apartment house built in 1944 by architect A. Bibolotti. Asmara is a city that is a showcase of 1930s Italian Art Deco architecture. Initially brought to the region by colonial-era Italians, the style continued to flourish into the 1960s as local architects furthered the distinctive designs.
