Nui atoll residents sitting in the remains of a house that was completely destroyed by Cyclone Pam. The Nui Atoll was affected by storm surges caused by Cyclone Pam in which 12 houses were completely destroyed and 110 homes badly damaged. 71 families (40% of the population) from Nui were displaced and were living in evacuation centres or with other families. According to Tuvalu Prime Minister Enele Sopoaga estimated 45 percent of the nation's nearly 10,000 people were displaced.
