They use natural ingredients and the rituals are a mixture of sortilege and religious ceremony. Curandeiros still remain well respected in Mozambique, especially in the rural areas where access to public hospitals is very limited and the local population have to rely on the Curandeiros. After many years the government in Maputo have recognized the work the Curandeiros do and have founded a school in Maputo that has been approved by the health minister.
