The remains of the Peking Palace, one of three extravagant residences built by former President Mobutu Sese Seko in and around his native village of Gbadolite in Equateur Province. The elaborate complex of Chinese pagodas is said to be an exact replica of the Forbidden City. The town and properties were looted by rebel forces during the country's civil war.
