28 year old Basanta is a mother of two whose husband has liver disease and is unable to work, leaving her as the sole earner in the family. She has been working in the cashew nut industry for the past 15 years, since starting as a child worker at the age of 13, and she is now a fast worker, shelling 8-10kg of cashews a day. Basanta still works at the same processing factory in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu.
