Houra Hassan (27), and her three daughters, sit together in the family hut on the only bed. In her arms, she holds Mariam (9 months), on the left is Adijo (3.5) and to the right is Adija (5).

Many men have left the village in search of work leaving their families behind. Drought and competition for limited resources often leads to food shortages for the families. When Houra had difficulties feeding herself she was unable to produce breast milk and this resulted in her children suffering from malnourishment.
