Cyclists ride past the 'Kino Africa', a building influenced by Italian Art Deco initially brought to the city during the colonial era. The style continued to flourish into the 1960s as local architects adopted the style. Asmara is a treasure trove of Art Deco architecture and UNESCO is considering making the city a World Heritage Site in recognition of its outstanding Modernist architecture.
