The colourful head of a Bitis Nasicornis (Rhinoceros Viper). A large stout viper that grows to 1.2 metres in length, with a narrow, flat, triangular head. The colour pattern is complex. Down the back runs a series of 15 to 18 large oblong blue or blue-green markings, each with a lemon yellow line down the centre. Its habitat is forest and woodland where it is usually terrestrial, but it does climb into thickets and trees, up to 3m or so above the ground.
