STO04494CAR.jpg
27-year-old Carol wipes her eyes during a visit to the remains of her old home in the derelict village of Bamatara. She is describing the events when armed men attacked the village and its residents took flight into the forest. In northern Central African Republic an estimated 125,000 people have fled into the forests following attacks by marauding armed groups. The region's poor infrastructure and lack of security means that international humanitarian organisations face a formidable task in supplying aid to the local population.
