Angela da Silva and her sons Moises and Davi, who went to live on the street after being expelled by court order from their house in a squatter camp on the outskirts of São Paulo, sit in their tent in downtown Sao Paulo. Many families who lost their livelihoods or became unemployed because of the economic crisis caused by the pandemic have become unable to pay their rent and had to leave their homes. Without any other housing options, these families occupied land on the city's outskirts or abandoned buildings in the city centre.
