Immigrants' Odyssey_018.jpg
Greece/ Patra/11-27-2009 Immigrants living in an area out of the city of Patras after the destruction of their camp by police authorities on 12 July 2009. The port of Patras is one of the biggest crossing points to continental Europe. Thousands of the immigrants in Greece gather in the country's biggest ports, in hopes of stowing away on one of the trucks loaded onto Italy-bound ships and ferries. Day and night, they sprint after the trucks as they pass through the gates, trying to latch onto the doors or crawl into the wheel wells. During the last years, in their effort to continue their journey, dozens have been found dead died suffocation inside the trucks. Giorgos Moutafis.
