Perla da Silva (26) and her husband Jose Domingo (28) clean the little mausoleum where their sons are buried. She recounts how shortly after pesticide fumigation started on the neighbouring soyabean fields she started to feel sick and miscarried in the 8th month of her pregnancy. She became pregnant again and gave birth to a boy but when he was four months old he developed heart problems and died shortly after. She links the events to her esposure to pesticides while pregnant. Doctors state the number of congenital malformations, as well as miscarriages, had risen in the areas where soyabeans are grown.
