Moono Simushi (39) at the Maramba River which contains the parasite causing Schistosomiasis (Bilharzia). Simushi was diagnosed with female genital schistosomiasis (FGS) in January 2022.
Female Genital Schistosomiasis (FGS) is a waterborne parasitic disease affecting women. Symptoms include lesions on the cervix which increase the risk of contracting secondary infections including HIV, and the risk of cervical cancer.
