Ahmad, a Free Syria Army (FSA) commander inspects gun magazines that have just been delivered to fighters in the Jebel Akrad Mountains. A former lieutenant in the Syrian army, he joined the FSA after defecting seven months ago. He now commands a fighting group, or a 'khattiba' funded and equipped by a mysterious sponsor acting through Syrian middlemen based in southern Turkey. Despite the necessity of the sponsors' support, the rebels remain concerned by his anonymity.
