A man rides his donkey in Hasankeyf. 80% of the town will be submerged beneath 60 metres (200 feet) of water following the completion of the Ilisu hydroelectric dam, 96 kilometres (60 miles) downstream on the Tigris River. The reservoir created by the dam will be approximately of 313 km2 (121 sq mi) and will flood several villages as well as Hasankeyf.
