Protesters climb on top of a tank to celebrate with soldiers the news of the immediate resignation of President Hosni Mubarak. Hundreds of thousands of people, from all over Egypt, descended into Tahrir Square to join in the carnival. The news first came through at around 6pm on the 11 February 2011 sparking wild scenes. 25 January 2011 saw the beginning of a nationwide 18 day protest movement that eventually ended the 30-year rule of Hosni Mubarak and his National Democratic Party.
