A rubbish strewn beach in Majuro. Remote Pacific nations all have waste disposal problems. They lack the space for landfill (which pose other risks such as seawater contamination) and the increasing importation of consumer goods with packaging has added to a problem traditionally solved by dumping, what was once mostly biodegradable) waste on the shore.
