An activist at work in a media centre in the district of Babr Amr in Homs, a few hours before it was shelled.Panos photographer William Daniels was caught up in the rocket attack on the temporary media centre in the besieged Syrian city of Homs which killed American journalist Marie Colvin and French photographer Remi Ochlik. French journalist Edith Bouvier and British photographer Paul Conroy were wounded in the attack and William was lucky to escape unhurt. He remained trapped in the city for nine days despite international diplomatic efforts to pursuade the Syrian government to stop shelling the city. He was smuggled out of Homs and out of Syria into Lebanon on 1 March 2012.
