In the night of Tuesday 15 September after having a shower and a cooked supper, 3 1/2 year old Sham, one of two daughters of Syrian refugee Aysha, falls asleep in the apartment they rented for the night. Earlier Aysha spent hours queuing for tickets to travel the next day by train to Munich and now they can have their first shower and night in a bed since they left Thessaloniki three days ago.
Photographer Georgios Makkas followed the journey of Aysha and her children as they arrived on the Greek island of Lesbos and then made their way to Munich.
