50 year old Marie Madeleine Dabone Bebane runs a small soap making business. After receiving training from PAMER she now adds to her income by selling specialist soaps containing nut oils and honey, which have therapeutic properties. "I live entirely from this business and have sent three of my children to university in the capital. Since my husband died I have been the only income earner. I cannot imagine how I would've survived after his death if I'd not had the training and support from PAMER to start my own business. I would have had to sell the house and rely on other relatives." Supported by IFAD, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, PAMER (Projet d'Appui aux Micro Entreprises Rurales) provides farmers with training and support to develop micro-enterprises in rural areas of Burkina Faso..
