A crowd of a couple of hundred people gathered in the central square of Tobruk shouting anti Gaddafi slogans while destroying a portrait of him. On 17 February the country saw the beginnings of a revolution against the ruling Col Muammar Al Gaddafi. Rebels now seem to control Tobruk after a pivotal attack on the city's police station. In total between 150 and 200 civilians have been killed in violence during the uprising in this area alone.
