Arwad Abu Shaheen, a twenty-five-year-old bride from the Druze (Druse) village of Bukata, prepares to leave her family home on her wedding day and travel across the Israeli-Syrian border to marry her Syrian fiance, thirty-year-old Muhanad Hareb. The Druze community of the Golan Heights, an area occupied by Israel in the Six-Day war, maintain Syrian relations and many of the Druze residents remain loyal to the Syrian regime.
