People protest the death of Kathmandu businessman and Maoist sympathiser Ram Hari Shrestha, who was abducted and tortured to death by the Maoist People's Liberation Army, in one of the United Nations monitored cantonment camps. There was a huge outcry from family members, friends, neighbours and supporters who all banded together to protest. They called for a general strike on 20 May, which brought Kathmandu to a tense standstill. The killing was a major embarrassment for the Maoists, who are still struggling to win the trust of Nepal's political parties and the old ruling elite.....
