A burned bed is one of the few remains of the Guayaqui Cua peasant community following their eviction two days earlier by security men from a nearby cattle-ranch, who together with local police officers, acted on behalf of the large-estate owner to evict them without notice. According to the authorities the lands are owned by the government but the large-estate owner has been expanding his property and claims ownership over the area where the peasants were living.
