Lakshmi, 30, lives with her seven-year old son Elis in one of the destroyed houses of Bhaktapur. 'There is no electricity, and we can smell the dead bodies coming from under the rubble. We can’t move out, we have nowhere to go. Our house mostly survived, but all our neighbours are either dead or have gone into camps. We are the only family on this street that hasn’t left the area.'<br />
On 25 April 2015 a powerful earthquake of 7.8 magnitude struck central Nepal, causing widespread destruction and killing approximately 7,760 people (29 April estimate).
