Ugandan newspapers, including The Independent, with headlines relating to Uganda's anti-homosexuality laws. On 24 February 2014, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni signed in a law allowing for life sentences for homosexuals. Since then, a climate of fear has spread among the members of the country's gay and lesbian community who have been going into hiding or leaving the country.
