In 2012, after the beginning of the fighting in Syria (in 2011), the Palestinian refugees based in Syria started to enter Lebanon. At least 5000 Palestinians from Syria settled in Baddawi refugee camp. Before 2007 there were on average one family per house. Now multiple families can live in one home.
