A section of a medical stent, coated in a nanocomposite material, is prepared for insertion into a patient's artery at the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead. The stent was developed at University College London's (UCL) Department of Nanotechnology and Regenerative Medicine. Compared to standard stents this one will last and due to its coating will attract the cells it needs once implanted functioning like a natural artery.
