Food aid dropped from a plane is collected by villagers. Three aeroplanes dropped hundreds of food sacks, containing beans, sorghum, sugar and salt, each day for six days, in total 466 tonnes of food. The aid is destined for the local community but inevitably filters down to the IDP population which numbers almost 4000 in Leer County, with new arrivals everyday.
