Textile workers sewing jeans while a young child sleeps nearby at a garment factory. The factory, which specifically carries out a wear-and-tear process used to achieve a fashionable distressed look, produces approximately 10,000 pairs of jeans every day. Thousands of workers labour through the night scrubbing, spraying and tearing jeans in order to meet the production demand. The factory is owned by Huang Dehong, who left his impoverished village and arrived penniless in Zhongshan twenty years ago. China, the "factory of the world", is now one of the world's largest producers of jeans and its textile workers are among the 200 million migrant labourers criss-crossing the country looking for a better life.
