A cook at the Barefoot College in Tilonia adjusts a solar cooker's beam. Large solar parabolas/cookers are made at the college. The parabola focuses the sun's rays onto cooking pots- rapidly bringing water or other ingredients to a boil without the need of firewood or other fuels. All the parts are locally available such as mirrors and bicycle gears adapted to turn the cooker on an axis tracking the sun's movement during the day.
