Lidice (Liditz) is a village in former Czechoslovakia (now in the Czech Republic) which was completely destroyed by the Nazis during World War Two (WWII). About 340 men, women and children from the village were murdered. The bronze statue is a monument to war's child victims - 42 girls and 40 boys were amongst those killed.
