In 1980, the Abuelas (Grandmothers) de Plaza de Mayo had their first success finding stolen children when they located seven-year-old Tatiana and her sister Laura, who had been adopted by a military family. During the last 30 years, the campaign group has been able to locate 88 of the 500 plus cases of disappeared children. Up to 30,000 people were 'disappeared' during the 1976-1983 Dirty War conducted by the Argentine government as part of Operation Condor.
