Tents are set up beneath signs at a camp established by the 'indignados'. One of the signs reads, 'Recycle here'. In May 2012, following a worsening financial crisis and a deepening recession in Spain, thousands of people started to gather in Spanish cities to protest against austerity, the global financial system, high unemplyment rate (Spain's is the highest rate in Europe) and the lack of opportunities. The protest movement has become known as 'los indignados' (the indignant ones).
