School children are brought on a day out to the Conservation Response Unit (CRU) on the edge of the Ulu Masen Forest to learn about why the forest is important for the local community. Fauna and Flora International (FFI) and The Aceh Forest and Environment Project (funded by the World Bank and the Multi Donor Fund) have set up the Conservation Response Unit on the edge of the Forest. The CRU is responsible for training rangers and working to help community members understand how to best protect the forest whilst providing economic benefits and and livelihood opportunities to local communities.
