Leonarda Dibrani at her home in Mitrovica. Leonarda and her family were deported from France after they lost their claim for asylum on the ground of discrimination in their home country. Leonarda was apprehended in front of her fellow pupils on a school field trip, a move that prompted protests and ultimately led to President Hollande offering her asylum on her own, without her family, a move widely criticised. The Dibrani family returned to Kosovo in October 2013 and their explusion from France was upheld by a court in France in January 2014.
